The Philadelphia Flyers kick off their 2020-2021 regular season tonight at home at the Wells Fargo Center, where they will face their cross-state rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins. It will be the Flyers' first game back since their game seven loss to the New York Islanders back in September in the Toronto bubble. The Islanders dominated the Flyers most of the series, yet the Flyers managed to force a game seven wherein true Philadelphia sports fashion they were shut out 4 - 0 and eliminated from the second round of the playoffs. The Penguins who were discarded by the Canadiens in the Cup Qualifiers are playing the Flyers in their first meeting of eight games this season which is sure to make for some great hockey.
Led by captain Claude Giroux, the Flyers are set to embark on their 56 game season with an extremely deep lineup. Included in their lineup is their 2nd overall pick in the 2017 draft, Nolan Patrick who will be starting his first regular season game in 652 days. This will no doubt bring some energy to an already tight-knit group of players.
My season prediction has the Flyers sitting at the top of the East Division, as well as raising the Stanley Cup!
