Flyers Announce 2021 Opening Night Roster

Updated: Jan 15, 2021

The 2020-2021 NHL season gets underway on Wednesday, and the Flyers will take part in the opening game, facing their most-hated rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

All teams had to announce their initial rosters, and here's what the Flyers 23-man roster will look like on Wednesday.

The team also has six players that will be assigned to the Taxi Squad:

G Alex Lyon

LW Samuel Morin

C Connor Bunnaman

C/LW Andy Andreoff

LW Carsen Twarynski

D Nate Prosser

Players on the taxi squad can be put on the active roster as late as 5 p.m. ET on a game day, giving clubs a better chance to having four lines, three defensive pairings, and two goaltenders even if rosters take a hit because of COVID-19 protocols.

The Flyers will also have $1,372,815 in cap space this season, so there's not much room to work with if they would want to make a blockbuster trade of any sort. As of now though, the Flyers should have a deep enough roster to be in the postseason conversation.
