The Flyers announced before the trade deadline passed that they traded defenseman Erik Gustafsson to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
The Flyers will also retain 50% of Gustafsson's salary for the remainder of this season.
Gustafsson played just 24 games with the Flyers this season, as he had been a healthy scratch in many recent games. He registered just one goal and nine assists in his time as a Flyer.
This move will also Sam Morin to possibly get more time on the ice, as he will now serve as the team's seventh/rotational defenseman.
This wasn't the only trade the Flyers made at the trade deadline, as they also traded Michael Raffl to the Washington Capitals.
