Today the Flyers announced that they have traded forward Michael Raffl to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
Raffl has been a staple on the team's bottom-six lines since 2014. His 504 games played are the 35th-most by a skate in franchise history. He also tacked on 81 goals, 20 of them being game-winning goals (27th-most in team history) and also added 79 assists.
The open spot in the lineup should go to rookie Tanner Laczynski, who had some impressive games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms earlier this season.
This wasn't the only trade the Flyers made at the trade deadline, as they also traded Erik Gustafsson to the Montreal Canadiens.
