Milestones That Flyers Players Could Accomplish This Season

Updated: Jan 15

The Flyers will only have 56 regular season games this season, but that is plenty of time for some veterans (and even some of the younger players) to climb up the annals of Flyers history. Here's a breakdown of some achieveable marks for the orange and black this season:

Claude Giroux

  • 889 -- he is 11 games away from 900 games played.

  • 889 -- he needs 15 games to pass Bill Barber (903) for the 2nd most games played in Flyers history. From there he will only have Bobby Clarke (1,144) ahead of him.

  • 257 -- he needs eight goals to pass Simon Gagne (264) for the 9th most goals in Flyers history. Passing Eric Lindros (290) for 8th place will be more achieveable next season.

  • 558 -- he needs six assists to pass Cliff Ronning and Craig Janney (563) for the 111th most assists in NHL history. Similar numbers to last season could move him past Dave Babych (581) and into the top 100.

  • 558 -- he needs 42 assists to become the 92nd player in NHL history to reach 600 career assists.

  • 815 -- he needs 35 points to pass Brian Propp (849) for the 3rd most points in Flyers history. He should get there, but he'll likely need another year to reach Bill Barber (883) for 2nd place .

  • 815 -- he is one point from passing Marian Gaborik (815) for the 158th most points in NHL history. Similar point totals from last year could get him into Alex Tanguay and Yvan Cournoyer (863) territory for 131st place.

  • 80 -- needs three more PPGs to pass Eric Lindros (82) for the 8th most power play goals in Flyers history. After Lindros comes Wayne Simmonds, which would probably have to wait until next season.

  • 316 -- he needs 20 PPPs to pass Bobby Clarke (335) for the most powerplay points in Flyers history.

  • 44 -- he needs one more GWG to pass Tim Kerr (44) for the 7th most game-winning goals in franchise history. A big scoring output could get him past Rich MacLeish (50) for 4th place.

Jake Voracek

  • 674 -- he is 18 games away from passing Simon Gagne (691) for the 11th most games played in Flyers history. If he suits up for all 56 games this year, he'll pass Gary Dornhoefer (725) for 10th place.

  • 168 -- he needs 14 goals to pass Jeff Carter (181) for the 17th most goal in Flyers history. After Carter comes Ilkka Sinisalo (199), which wouldn't be achieveable for him this season.

  • 393 -- he needs three assists to pass Mark Recchi (395) for 5th place on the Flyers all-time assists list. After Recchi would be Bill Barber (463), which seems out of the realm of possibility for a 56 game season.

  • 561 -- he is 42 points away from passing Rod Brind’Amour (601) for the 10th most points in Flyers history. After Brind'Amour comes Mark Recchi (627) which could be a tough ask to reach.

  • 46 -- he is one PPG away from passing Ilkka Sinisalo (46) for the 18th most powerplay goals in Flyers history. He has a good shot of passing Mike Knuble (50) for 16th place.

Sean Couturier

  • 647 -- he needs three games to pass John LeClair (649) for the 13th most games played in Flyers history. If he plays all 56 games this season, he would become the 11th player in team history to reach 700 games in orange and black.

  • 156 -- he is two goals away from passing Scott Hartnell (157) for the 22nd most goals in Flyers history. A high scoring output could move him past Jeff Carter (181) for 17th place.

  • 246 -- he is 27 assists away from passing Simon Gagne (271) for the 18th most assists in Flyers history. Some solid passing could get him past Tim Kerr (287) for 15th place.

  • 402 -- he needs eight points to pass Ilkka Sinisalo (409) for the 19th most points in Flyers history. If he plays like he is expected to, then he can pass Pelle Eklund (452) 17th place this season.

Travis Konecny

  • 299 -- he is one game away from becoming the 74th Flyer to play 300+ games with the team. He'll achieve the accomplishment when he takes the ice against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the season opener.

  • 83 -- he is two goals away from passing Darryl Sittler (84) for the 44th most goals in Flyers history. If he scores a bunch of goals this season he could climb all the way past Brayden Schenn (109) for 35th place.

  • 102 -- is 23 assists from passing Keith Primeau (126) for the 50th most assists in Flyers history. If he collects a lot of assists, he has the ability to pass Bob Dailey (138) for 46th place.

  • 185 -- is three points away from passing Matt Read, James van Riemsdyk and Brad McCrimmon (187) for the 50th most points in Flyers history. He has the ability to move past Don Saleski (235) for 39th place.

  • 185 -- he is 15 points away from 200 career points. He’ll be the 45th Flyer to reach 200+ points with the team.

James van Riemsdyk

  • 328 -- he is 22 games away from 350 games as a Flyer (57th or 58th player to achieve that mark depending on Shayne Gostisbehere)

  • 93 -- he is one goal from passing Simon Nolet and Eric Desjardins (93) for the 36th most goals in Flyers history. He could potentially pass Brayden Schenn (109) for 35th place.

  • 187 -- he is one point away from passing Matt Read and Brad McCrimmon (187) for the 50th most points in Flyers history. He could potentially pass Behn Wilson (214) and move up to 42nd place.

Michael Raffl

  • 470 -- he is seven games away from passing Don Saleski (476) for the 39th most games played in Flyers history. If he is active every game this season he could tie Ilkka Sinisalo (526) for 30th place.

  • 78 -- he is two goals from passing Orest Kindrachuk (79) for the 46th most goals in Flyers history. He could realistically tie Kevin Dineen (88) for 40th place.

  • 152 -- he is 48 points away from 200 career points.

Oskar Lindblom

  • 30 -- he needs 22 more games to pass Dave Schultz (51) for the most career goals by a fifth-round pick in Flyers history.

Scott Laughton

  • 321 -- he is 29 games away from 350 career games. He’ll likely be be the 58th Flyer to reach that amount of games played

  • 106 -- he is 44 points away from 150 career points. He’ll be the 67th or 68th Flyer to reach 150+ points with the team. (depending on Ivan Provorov's point totals)

Robert Hagg

  • 202 -- he is 48 games away from 250 career games played. He’ll likely be the 92nd Flyer to reach that mark

Phil Myers

  • 71 -- he is 29 games away from 100 career games played.

Ivan Provorov

  • Ivan Provorov (315) is 39 games away from 350 career games. He’ll be the 57th Flyers skater to ever play 300+ games with the team.

  • Ivan Provorov (315) is 22nd all-time in games played by a Flyers defensemen. If he keeps his ironman streak alive, he'll pass Behn Wilson (339), Shayne Gostisbehere (339), Dan McGillis (340), and Brad McCrimmon (367).

  • 43 -- he is 7th all-time in goals by a Flyers defenseman. He could potentially pass Shayne Gostisbehere (51), Bob Dailey (56), and Behn Wilson (59) this season.

  • 90 -- he is 24th all-time in assists by a Flyers defenseman. He could potentially pass Joni Pitkanen (91), Brad Marsh (96), Gord Murphy (97), Ed Van Impe (107), Kim Johnsson (107), Dan McGillis (108), and Mark Streit (110) this season.

  • 133 -- he is 20th all-time in points by a Flyers defenseman. He could potentially pass Matt Carle (137), Dan McGillis (140), Mark Streit (140), Kim Johnsson (147), Chris Therian (159), and Braydon Coburn (161) this season.

  • 199 -- he is three points away from passing Simon Nolet (201) for the 44th most points in Flyers history. 35 points would put him above Tom Bladon (230) for 40th place.

  • 148 -- he is one assist away from passing Jimmy Watson (148) for the 46th most assists in Flyers history. If he can somehow grab 25 assists this season, he would leap over Paul Holmgren (171) for 30th place.

  • 340 -- he is 19th all-time in games played by a Flyers defensemen. If he makes the lineup consistently he could pass Dan McGillis (340), Brad McCrimmon (367), Terry Carkner (376), Luke Richardson (387), and Doug Crossman (392) in this 56 game season.

  • 51 -- he is 6th all-time in goals by a Flyers defenseman. Bob Dailey (56) and Behn Wilson (59) are in possible striking range this season.

  • 148 -- he is 10th all-time in assists by a Flyers defenseman. With regular playing time, he could pass Jimmy Watson (148), Brad McCrimmon (152), Behn Wilson (155), Doug Crossman (158), Joe Watson (162), and Tom Bladon (163).

  • 199 -- he is 6th all-time in points by a Flyers defenseman. His closest targets are Behn Wilson (214) and Tom Bladon (230).

  • Carter Hart (40) is three wins away from passing Sergei Bobrovsky and Ken Wregget (42) for the 18th most wins by a goalie in Flyers history. Hart is likely to get somewhere between 20-25 wins this season, which could ultimately tie him with Martin Biron (65) for 11th place.

Brian Elliott

  • Brian Elliott (100) is eight games away from passing Ken Wregget (107) for the 16th most games played by a goalie in Flyers history. If he gets the same playing time he did last season, he'll get ~25 game appearances in 2021. That would put him above John Vanbiesbrouck (112- 15th place) and below Robert Esche (128 - 14th place)

  • Brian Elliott (50) is three wins away from passing Ilya Bryzgalov and John Vanbiesbrouck (52) for the 15th most wins by a goalie in Flyers history. Elliott is likely in line for 10-15 wins this season, which could ultimately tie him with Martin Biron (65) for 11th place.
