The Flyers defense has looked suspect in the first four games of the season. Now they will be facing even more of an uphill battle, as the team will be without Phil Myers likely for a few weeks due to a fractured rib.
Myers took a hit from Sabres defenseman Jake McCabe in the first period of Tuesday's game. He took a shift after the hit, but failed to come back to the bench to start the second period.
Myers is being kept off of injured reserve for now though, so Morgan Frost is still the only Flyer to be on IR. Sean Couturier is also still expected to miss a few weeks, but for some peculiar reason he has yet to be placed on IR.
Mark Friedman is set to take Myers' spot in the lineup. Since Myers is expected to be out somewhat long-term, the Flyers also decided to assign AHL defenseman Derrick Pouliot to the taxi squad (effectively taking Friedman's spot).
