Pittsburgh’s Jared McCann had a hearing with NHL Player Safety regarding the elbow he delivered to Travis Sanheim in last night's game. To the *shock* of everyone, the NHL decided not to suspend a Penguin. Instead, McCann has been fined $10,000 for the illegal hit that the league is trying to get rid of.
Sanheim didn't like the result of the hearing either, retweeting a tweet that was showing confusion towards the questionable decision.
The Flyers won't face the Penguins again until March, so we won't see any possible retaliation scenarios until then. It'll be interesting to see how the league handles any other similar elbow calls around the league for the rest of the season to see if there is any consistency.
